The Contemporary Eartraining Level One book is the ideal eartraining primer for all instrumentalists and writers, with hundreds of exercises to help you get the sounds "in your ear". This 220-page book uses the 'solfeg' system (the syllables DO, RE, MI etc) to label the notes in the major scale, and then works on hearing and transcribing resolutions (active-to-resting movements), melodic and harmonic intervals, diatonic triads (individually and in simple progressions), bass lines, and melodic dictation. Each chapter includes vocal drills as well as text and exercises.
If you are buying this book, we recommend that you also buy the accompanying audio recordings (either downloadable mp3s, or audio CDs), as this will enable you to work through the eartraining exercises.
